Pilates Supreme Workout

Is Pilates supreme? I have tested my share of exercises over the years but have never come across a sequence of exercising that has done more for myself than Pilates and that is why I believe Pilates is supreme to most others.

I enjoy playing golf, basketball, tennis, swimming, bicycling, running, kayaking, volleyball, badminton, and just about any other sport you can think of.

Most of these sports require much coordination, concentration, and muscle strength and flexibility, as well as joint stability so you do not injure yourself.

The beauty of Pilates supreme to others is that you can participate in these sports and not have to worry about the high injury rate associated with them.

When you practice Pilates exercises on a regular and consistent basis your body functions optimally and in effect, with lower risk for injury and pain.

Pilates requires focus and concentration much like most of the sports I enjoy participating in. When you practice Pilates on a regular basis it increases your flexibility, breathing, body awareness, as well as strengthening the muscles that surround and protect your joints.

What better way to condition yourself for sports that require you to have strong, supple muscles, as well as the concentration and coordination to perform at your best.

Weight training focuses on building muscle strength.

Stretching promotes elongation of the muscles.

Yoga focuses on flexibility and meditative breathing.

Cardiovascular exercises promote endurance and heart health.

I believe Pilates supreme to other exercises in that it promotes all of the above aspects of training the body at the same time.

Pilates exercises focus on stabilizing your core or trunk stemming from the breastbone to the pubic bone. While being mindful of connecting the correct muscles in your strong stable core, you can then focus on stretching and strengthening your extremities (arms and legs) for a more fluid and flowing workout.

Remember the old phrase; “If you don’t use it, you’ll lose it!” I believe this to be true but even more so; “If you don’t use it correctly (meaning using your body the way it was intended), you’ll lose it, or injure it!”
