Calories burned doing a Pilates Reformer Workout

I would like to know how many calories you burn doing a Pilates Reformer class for an hour?

Hi Diane and thanks for your question. That's a complicated one and I don't have a precise answer for.

Think of a Pilates Workout as an anaerobic or like an interval training workout.

You have 30-60 second bouts of high energy and muscle work at a time followed by periods of transition where you are resting as you change springs or adjust the reformer settings.

Depending on the intensity of both you and the instructor you could burn anywhere from 300-500 calories.

Also, remember that you are building muscle doing a Pilates Reformer workout and that type of workout continues to burn calories after you have finished due to the energy it takes the body to tear down and then rebuild muscle.
